Gigacase

The special feature on contemporary art occupies a conspicuous area.
This year Prof. Johan Swinnen acts as the curator for the Gigacase.  Currently the organisation encourages selected galleries to submit an extra application for this special project entitled “rediscovering photography”.

The Working Process 2011

The concept of the ‘Gigacase 2011’ project was present- ed to a large number of galleries in early 2011: a space of about 300 to 600 square metres was to be organised into six smaller, open space areas. The booths are arranged so that each gallery can present two photographers, in a di- rect and individual way, never obliging the participating galleries to compromise in any way in terms of quality or the way that the works of art are exhibited.

Later in the year, in September, a coordination meet- ing was held in the S.M.A.K museum between the se- lected galleries, Prof. Johan Swinnen, Francis Feidler and Ward Caes, in order to make sure that everyone in- volved in the organisation of the Gigacase was mindful of the needs of each party.
